For example, let’s say a distributor brings in a product at $100. Once he sells that product to his largest customer, the price is reduced to $80. This reduction allows the distributor to sell the product at a lower price to that customer.  

SPAs are essentially a way to give discounts without the full burden being placed on the distributor. This is critical in industries where manufacturer profit margins are larger than distributor profit margins.
