Founded in 2000, by entrepreneurs Denys Shortt OBE and Andrew Butt, Enable are the outsourced partner of choice for clients who wish to invest in continuous improvement through iterative development of their software products and business systems.

From our humble beginnings in a stable block, our team has grown to 75 people, half of whom are in technical software development roles. Our ambition is to double in size by 2020.

Our mission is to provide a vibrant and diverse working environment where everything we do, how we do it, and why we do it is rooted in two concepts: freedom and focus. Our employees have the freedom to work creatively, while our team structure and project processes allow them to focus entirely on solving any given challenge.

Why Stratford-upon-Avon?

We have made our home in Stratford-upon-Avon at the heart of Warwickshire, which was recently voted the 10th best place to live in the UK in an Office for National Statistics personal wellbeing survey. Close to the M40, Stratford-upon-Avon offers a direct rail line to Birmingham that runs every hour, making it an ideal location for anyone wishing to regularly commute from the city centre.

The town is an instantly recognisable tourist destination being the birthplace of English playwright and poet William Shakespeare, receiving approximately 3 million visitors a year! Many of the town's most iconic buildings are located along the main route from the town centre to the parish church. These include Shakespeare's Birthplace, Bancroft Gardens, and the Holy Trinity Church.

Things to do

A wide variety of Shakespearean productions and other contemporary performances can be experienced in popular venues throughout the year such as the world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre, which last year also hosted Enable's annual Christmas party at the Rooftop Restaurant for food and then across the road at the RSC The Other Place for the afterparty.

Being close to the centre of town, the choices for what to do at lunch are extensive. Stratford-upon-Avon offers a diverse range of independent shops, award-winning markets, high street stores, restaurants, cinemas and plenty of bars and pubs such as The Bear, which is a popular choice for drinks to take place after work on a Friday for our employees.

Fancy stretching your legs and going for a walk? The Stratford-upon-Avon canal network runs across the road from our offices, where it goes on to join the River Avon at the Bancroft Basin in the heart of the town. If you don't feel like leaving the office, then you can always join in with the various video and board games that take place in our “chill out” area. We also provide a well-equipped, well-stocked kitchen with a large variety of free food and drink to suit all tastes and dietary requirements.

Conclusion

Choosing the right location for your business to be based is one of the most important decisions that any company can make. Location plays a vital role in attracting and retaining motivated and highly-skilled employees, many of whom placing a greater value on where they're based in order to make the most of their work-life balance and wellbeing. Stratford-upon-Avon is a thriving hub which Enable is extremely proud to be an integral part of. The town is not only brimming with creative history, but also with a huge pool of talent desiring to work here too.
